Workshop Title – Imagining and Living a Truly Gender Expansive Future in Pagan Communities

Saturday, March 16, 2024

10:30 AM, Room ‘F’

Clio Ajana (panel chair), Rachel Dominguez, Lily of the Light, Raven Rising

PFLAG defines ‘gender expansive’ as “an umbrella term for those who do not follow gender stereotypes, or who expand ideas of gender expression or gender identity.” A gender expansive future refers to a time and space where all gender expressions are celebrated and all people are free to move across the gender spectrum in their own unique ways. This panel brings together Pagans and Witches of diverse gender expressions and life experiences to discuss what it takes to imagine and live a truly gender expansive future in Pagan communities. We are particularly interested in hearing from trans, nonbinary, genderfluid, gender nonconforming, or agender Pagans whose experiences with gender emerge out of or challenge the interlocking axes of oppression along race, Indigeneity, sexuality, class, disability, religion, and/or spiritual lines.

Workshop Title – Witchcraft and Paganism as Praxis: Connecting the “why” to the “how” of your personal practice

Sunday, March 17, 2024

9:30 AM, Room ‘F’

Raven Rising

Praxis is the intersection of theory (set of ideas, concepts, and/or principles that help us understand something) and practice (how we act on ideas, concepts, and/or principles). Praxis is putting the Why do we practice? into the magick we create and the lives we lead as Witches and Pagans. In a consumer market increasingly oriented towards practical and aesthetic Paganism, it can be difficult especially for those new to the community to curate their own personal practice without understanding the bigger picture: the who, what, where, and why of engaging in Paganism and Witchcraft. In this workshop, you will reflect on your own life experiences and bigger picture through writing and journal prompts. We will then explore and discuss how your bigger picture connects to the how of your practice, engaging in a personally grounded praxis. This workshop will be especially relevant to BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA2+ Pagans and Witches who are interested in exploring what it might look like to honor their own experiences and perspectives in their praxis.
